Types of Hearing Aids

Hearing aids are powerful devices with capabilities such as Bluetooth, noise reduction and feedback cancellation.

Enjoy an improved listening experience with our wide range of hearing aids.

Behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids

Behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids are powerful devices that are worn behind the ear. The electrical components of these hearing aids are stored in a small, plastic casing. Sound is then transmitted via a wire or tube that goes into the ear canal.

BTE devices are available in a wide range of colours. You can opt for one that suits your hair or skin tone, or one that conveys your unique personality.

Traditional BTE hearing aids

Traditional behind-the-ear (BTE)

Traditional BTE hearing aids are slightly larger than their RITE counterparts.

The speaker can be found in the casing of the device and sound is sent to the ear via a tube.

Features:

  • For severe to profound hearing loss
  • Casing is larger than RITE hearing aids
  • Electronic components are kept away from discharge, ear wax and moisture
Receiver-in-the-ear hearing aid

Receiver-in-the-ear/receiver-in-canal (RITE/RIC)

RITE hearing aids are also known as Receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aids.

They are popular among wearers due to their size, comfort and weight.

Features:

  • For mild to profound hearing loss
  • Casing is smaller than BTE hearing aids
  • Receiver is susceptible to discharge, ear wax and moisture

In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids

In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids are a range of custom made devices that are discreet and individually moulded to fit the contours of the wearer’s ear. Depending on the style of the device, the hearing aid may sit closer to the outer ear, or deep within the ear canal. They are also available in an array of colours.

Invisible-in-the-canal IIC hearing aid<br />

Invisible-in-the-canal (IIC)

Each IIC hearing aid is tailored to match the contours of your ear such that it sits far inside the ear canal.

These hearing aids are the most discreet option and cannot be seen by others.

Features:

  • For mild to severe hearing loss
  • Most discreet
  • Smallest in size
Completely in the canal hearing aid

Completely-in-the-canal (CIC)

CIC hearing aids sit fully inside the ear canal. However, they may still be visible from certain angles.

To make these hearing aids as discreet as possible, you can match the colour of the faceplate to the colour of your ear.

Features:

  • For mild to severe hearing loss
  • Very discreet
  • Equipped with a push-button for manual control
In the canal hearing aid

In-the-canal (ITC)

ITC hearing aids come with control buttons that allow you to change the programme and volume.

As this type of hearing aid is a little larger as compared to its CIC counterpart, individuals who are looking for a more discreet option may prefer CIC or IIC hearing aids.

Features:

  • For mild to profound hearing loss
  • Discreet
  • Offers maximum support for hearing in noisy environments
  • Full range of features is available
  • Option for wireless connectivity is available
Half-shell hearing aid

Half-shell/Full-shell

These devices are the largest of the custom hearing aids, making them the easiest to use and handle.

They are often equipped with the most functions such as directional microphones and volume wheels.

Features:

  • For mild to profound hearing loss
  • Easiest to handle and control
  • Offers maximum support for hearing in noisy environments
  • Full range of features is available
  • Equipped with wireless connectivity
