With basic online hearing tests, you can now sit in the comfort of your home while getting a gauge of your hearing health.

Understanding your hearing health will allow you to take action if required, to improve your overall quality of life.

Our online test is free and only takes 5 minutes to complete. It will provide a rough indication of how well you hear using self-evaluation questions. A tone test and a few listening situations are also included.

What is a hearing test?

A hearing test evaluates an individual’s hearing sensitivity across a range of frequencies.

It assesses one’s ability to pick up varying tones, such as in noisy environments when it is challenging even for those without hearing loss to hear.

Why should I take a hearing test?

Hearing loss increases the risk of many social and psychological conditions such as social isolation, depression and dementia.

Testing your hearing will allow you to identify any problems early and seek treatment if required.

What does the online hearing test include?

The online hearing test has 3 parts:

  1. 4 quick questions about your hearing in daily scenarios
  2. Listen to a few short conversations that has background noise
  3. Answer a few questions based on the conversations to evaluate how well you heard the conversations

Once the online hearing test is completed, you will get the results immediately.

What will the online hearing test results indicate?

Based on the responses given in the test, you will be placed into one of these categories:

  • No hearing loss
  • Moderate hearing loss
  • Severe hearing loss

For those categorised under moderate or severe hearing loss, you will be advised to schedule a non-obligatory free appointment with our hearing care professionals at Hearing Partners. Our hearing care professionals will provide advice on how to manage hearing loss moving forward.

Is the online hearing test effective?

The most useful online hearing tests include self-evaluation questions and use background noise to assess your ability to distinguish speech from noise.

However, do note that they act as a general gauge of your hearing health and are not meant to be a substitute for a consultation with a hearing care professional. If you suspect that you have hearing loss, you are encouraged to book a hearing test with a hearing care professional to get more accurate results.

Life After Diagnosing and Treating Hearing Loss

At Hearing Partners, we help clients diagnose their hearing health issues and propose suitable hearing care solutions. Here is what our clients who are hearing aid users have to say:

Cynthia Tan, User of Oticon hearing aids

“Before I got my hearing back, I felt very numb. After wearing the hearing aid, I regained my confidence.”

“I’m very happy that she’s wearing hearing aids now so she can hear us, and her life has improved. I feel that for people with hearing loss, even though they have given up on themselves, don’t give up as their caregiver because it may just be worth it one day.”

Lim Siew Lian, User of Oticon hearing aids

“Once she puts on the hearing aid, she’s alert to who’s talking. Then she will want to be part of that conversation. She has a lot more things to share and to communicate with other people.

She can hear better and we don’t need to feel strained talking to her. She doesn’t need to speak loudly anymore. She’s not so easily frustrated and her temper is better.”

Thomas Chan, Long-term hearing aids user of Oticon More™

“The Oticon unit, these hearing aids, I am using Bluetooth technology. And the Bluetooth technology allows me to turn on my volume individually without affecting my wife so that we don’t have to turn up the television volume.

The other thing is that when my phone rings, I don’t need to pick up my handphone, I can just speak. So that’s also very helpful.”

Rosie Wee, User of Oticon More™

“I can hear the birds chirping, standing on top of the roof. My building is on the 25th floor, my unit is very high so I can hear. I can even hear the ticking of the clock.

With the new Oticon More™, I can hear people around me, even behind me, and even far away when my granddaughter yells, calling me. Last time I couldn’t hear it.”

FAQs about Hearing and Online Hearing Tests

How do I know if my hearing is damaged?

If your hearing is damaged or if you are experiencing some form of hearing loss, some signs and symptoms may include:

  • Turning up the volume of the television to hear better
  • Often asking others to repeat themselves or speak louder
  • Having difficulty following conversations, especially in noisy environments
  • Hearing muffled speech or sounds

If these sound familiar, you are advised to consult a professional hearing care professional to get your hearing checked.

Can hearing be improved naturally?

While hearing loss cannot be reversed, early medical intervention such as using hearing aids can help mitigate the implications of hearing loss and increase your quality of life.

One way to prevent hearing loss is to avoid loud noises that are over 85 dB (e.g. earpiece on maximum volume, concerts, ambulance siren) as much as possible.

Are online hearing tests accurate?

Online hearing tests are a convenient way to get a general estimate of how good your hearing is. The results will usually show if you have no, moderate or severe hearing loss.

From here, you are encouraged to get a more detailed test done professionally by a hearing care professional if your results state that you have moderate or severe hearing loss. The hearing care professional will then advise on suitable hearing solutions to improve your quality of life.

What are the next steps after taking our online hearing test?

After getting the online hearing test results, some patients may be encouraged to get a professional hearing test done by a hearing care expert.

At Hearing Partners, we have various hearing tests to check your hearing more accurately and comprehensively.
